The mission of the National Center for Cultural Competence, based at Georgetown Univeristy in the USA, is to increase the capacity of health care and mental health care programs to design, implement, and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent service delivery systems to address growing diversity, persistent disparities, and to promote health and mental health equity.

Its site contains a wide variety of resources, including research, case vignettes, good practice guidelines and self assessment tools. A strong theme runnning through its work is that individual cultural competence is insufficient in itself; organisations employing health and social care workers need to be culturally competent to support good practice.

The Care Council for Wales is the government regulatory body for social care. They publish Codes of Practice for social Care Workers and social Care Employers.[http://www.ccwales.org.uk/registration-and-conduct/confidence-in-care/code-workers]
